Mechanical Simulation Software Strengthens the Autodesk Solution for Digital Prototyping
Autodesk today announced that it has reached a key milestone in its integration of recently acquired Algor software with the release of the Autodesk Algor Simulation 2010 products. A key component of the Autodesk solution for Digital Prototyping, Autodesk Algor Simulation software provides a broad range of mechanical simulation tools to help designers and engineers make critical decisions earlier in the design process.
Extensive finite element modeling tools and built-in material libraries within Autodesk Algor Simulation software allow users to study initial design intent and accurately simulate the behavior of a digital prototype. Additionally, Autodesk Algor Simulation software supports direct, associative data exchange with most CAD software tools, so users can easily collaborate and make iterative design changes without having to redefine simulation data. By helping engineers predict product performance, including situations in which multiple physical factors interact simultaneously, Autodesk Algor Simulation software helps engineers validate and optimize designs before manufacturing occurs.
There are four Autodesk Algor Simulation software offerings:
- Autodesk Algor Simulation 2010 - Design validation and optimization with a broad range of mainstream engineering simulation tools in a multi-CAD environment.
- Autodesk Algor Simulation CFD 2010 - All the functionality of Autodesk Algor Simulation along with fluid flow analysis, computational fluid dynamics and mass transfer analysis.
- Autodesk Algor Simulation MES 2010 - All the functionality of Autodesk Algor Simulation along with nonlinear static and dynamic analysis, rigid-body motion analysis, and combined stress and flexible-body motion analysis.
- Autodesk Algor Simulation Professional 2010 - All the functionality of Autodesk Algor Simulation, Autodesk Algor Simulation CFD, and Autodesk Algor Simulation MES along with electrostatic analysis and the ability to combine analysis types for full multiphysics simulations.

Let's face it - at some point in time you're going to need to send your designs to someone who doesn't have AutoCAD...so what is your preferred method of choice? I'd say most of us choose one of the following three:
- Print the drawing out and physically mail it (save the Rainforest!)
- Convert the drawing to PDF and email it (Ouch that filesize is so big!)
- Convert the drawing to DWF.
So I'm offering up my plug to select Door #3 here...DWF files are Smarter, Smaller and Simpler...and you don't have to purchase any extra software to create a DWF file like you do with that "other" file format. It's easy to publish your design as a DWF out of any Autodesk design application.

Autodesk Certification Details
The Autodesk Certification program enables experienced users to receive special recognition for their knowl -edge of a specific Autodesk software application. Autodesk provides a complete certification solution; including assessment tests, Autodesk Official Authorized Training Courseware for preparation, practice test for 2009 professional level exam, and Certification exams for validating your knowledge and skills.
Autodesk offers certification exams for AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit Architecture.
There are two levels of 2009 Autodesk Certification, which are designed to assess a candidate’s knowledge and skills of specific Autodesk applications.
Level 1: Autodesk Certified Associate. This certification level covers the fundamental concepts and procedures in an Autodesk application, and is targeted to all software users. This certification exam comprises thirty (30) multiple choice questions and does not require the use of Autodesk software. This knowledge-based certification is a prerequisite to the Certified Professional level.
Level 2: Autodesk Certified Professional. This certification level covers a broad range of skills, and requires an individual to perform tasks and procedures using the Autodesk software. This certification exam comprises twenty (20) performance-based items. Professional level exams require an individual to open a drawing, complete a task or series of tasks, and then answer a question about that task.
