Autodesk has released Update 1 for AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD LT 2010,

AutoCAD 2010 Update 1

AutoCAD LT 2010 Update 1

This update is only for AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT and cannot be applied to vertical products that are based on AutoCAD 2010.

Installing Update 1 will increment the product version to 2, e.g., "AutoCAD 2010 - English Version 2".

AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 tip of the week (Detal View) 

To create a detail

  1. Start the Detail command.
    • Ribbon Home tab ? Draw Tools panel ? Detail View.
    • Menu Draw ? Detail...
    • Command AMDETAIL
  2. Respond to the prompts as follows:
    • Center of circle or [Rectangle/Object]:
    • Click a point in the center of the area to be detailed (1)
    • Specify radius or [Diameter]:
    • Drag the radius to the appropriate size, click (2)
  3. In the Detail dialog box, specify:
    • Detail View: Detail in Current Space
  4. Click OK, and respond to the prompts as follows:
    • Place the detail view: Select a location to the right of the lever
NOTE: Some entities such as dimensions and symbols are automatically filtered out in the detail function.
Now, add a dimension to the detail.

Autodesk Certification Details

The Autodesk Certification program enables experienced users to receive special recognition for their knowl -edge of a specific Autodesk software application. Autodesk provides a complete certification solution; including assessment tests, Autodesk Official Authorized Training Courseware for preparation, practice test for 2009 professional level exam, and Certification exams for validating your knowledge and skills.

Autodesk offers certification exams for AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, Civil 3D, Inventor, and Revit Architecture.

There are two levels of 2009 Autodesk Certification, which are designed to assess a candidate’s knowledge and skills of specific Autodesk applications.

Level 1: Autodesk Certified Associate. This certification level covers the fundamental concepts and procedures in an Autodesk application, and is targeted to all software users. This certification exam comprises thirty (30) multiple choice questions and does not require the use of Autodesk software. This knowledge-based certification is a prerequisite to the Certified Professional level.

Level 2: Autodesk Certified Professional. This certification level covers a broad range of skills, and requires an individual to perform tasks and procedures using the Autodesk software. This certification exam comprises twenty (20) performance-based items. Professional level exams require an individual to open a drawing, complete a task or series of tasks, and then answer a question about that task.
